This weekend was all about analyzing tourism markets at the Smith Travel Research Share Center as part of the 2022 STR Global Student Market Study Competition. On Saturday, November 19, the final teams of the bachelor’s courses, and on Sunday the master’s courses were competing. Both days started with a welcome from the STR vice-president, followed by the presentation of the international expert jury. In a 30-minute presentation, the finalist teams presented their results which is the outcome of almost three months of preparation.

In the finals, the BBS team, the only one representing Europe, analyzed the tourist and hotel metadata of Paris, partly based on the STR Share Center big data, partly based on other tourist and hotel databases. The analyzes were evaluated on the basis of three months of persistent and enthusiastic research work.

Michigan State University team won the undergraduate category, while the Babeş-Bolyai University team finished second. The winner of the master’s degree finals is California’s Cal Poly Pomona, and the second best in the world are tourism management students from BBS. Team includes Annisa Husnul Latifah, (Indonesia) Jessica Guzman Zapata, (Columbia) and Mỹ Linh and Linh Nguyen (Vietnam) ahead of Auburn University, Georgia State University, Hong Kong University and the University of Florida teams. Congratulations and well done, ladies!
