The PRME Secretariat has recently announced the new cohort of PRME Champions for 2024-2025. This cohort boasts 47 PRME Signatory Members with a track record of impactful contributions in thought and action leadership. Each institution was selected to join the cohort by the PRME Secretariat from a pool of strong and diverse applicants. Budapest Business University is the only university in the cohort from Hungary.

This year two Hungarian scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy: Katalin Karikó for Medicine and Ferenc Krausz for Physics. We congratulate the winners.

Europe’s largest annual international higher education exhibition took place in Rotterdam between September 26-29, 2023, where Budapest Business University represented itself with an independent stand and a delegation of 5 people. Over 6,700 visitors from a hundred countries attended the 33rd EAIE Conference and Exhibition this year to discuss the internationalization of higher education, hear about best practices at the conference, and build new relationships in the Dutch port city.

On October 10th, a seven-person delegation from the Chinese Hunan University visited our university to start negotiations regarding a bilateral partnership between our institutions. Founded in 976, the prestigious university is one of China’s oldest higher education institutions, with approximately 36,000 students. Both parties expressed their intention to cooperate in the fields of education and research during the friendly negotiation, as well as emphasized the support of academic publication and exchange programs.

On September 21, representatives of BBU’s strategic partner, China’s Southwest University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), visited the university. Since 2021, BBU has a cooperation agreement with the higher education institution that possesses international accreditations from AACSB, EQUIS and EFMD, and which is also one of China’s leading universities in the field of finance and economics. So far, the Chinese side has sent nearly 30 self-funded part-time students to BBU.

The extended internship program opens up the opportunity for BBU students to try themselves in a privileged area of public administration.

On 16th September Budapest Business University organised a Welcome Day to international students. Almost 250 newcomers participated in various fun activities at Normafa, which is one of the most spectacular spots of the Buda side.

6474 Hungarian freshmen admitted to Budapest Business University, BBU are enrolling fully online as of this academic year. This is the highest enrolment figure since 2005.

The members of ENVISAGE – European University Network for ENVisioning Sustainable AGilE transition are the German HSW – Wismar University of Applied Sciences, the Polish Krakow University of Economics, the French ICN Business School, Nancy, the Portuguese Portucalense University, Porto, as well as the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences, Tallinn and the BBS from Hungary. Recently, the strategic alliance jointly applied for nearly 6 million euros in support for the joint development of education, research, innovation and services to society within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme’s call for proposals of the European University Networks.

The team of the Lámfalussy College for Advanced Studies team arrived home from Canada, where they successfully completed the obstacles assigned to them at the 2022 LazICC case study competition.

This weekend was all about analyzing tourism markets at the Smith Travel Research Share Center as part of the 2022 STR Global Student Market Study Competition. On Saturday, November 19, the final teams of the bachelor’s courses, and on Sunday the master’s courses were competing. Both days started with a welcome from the STR vice-president, followed by the presentation of the international expert jury. In a 30-minute presentation, the finalist teams presented their results which is the outcome of almost three months of preparation.

Our international students could get a glimpse of traditional Hungarian folk dance in a very authentic hall, at Fonó Dance Hall in Buda.

The International Relations and Mobility Office and the Students’ Union of BBS invited all international students to an event in connection with Halloween: a Pumpkin Carving night!

Our Year 2 students on the English-language BA Communication and Media programme had the opportunity to attend a guest lecture by Dr Orsolya Gantner, Head of Legal for Citi Hungary and CE5 Cluster Legal Head on November 7th. The lecture covered a variety of legal and business topics, including bank operations from legal perspective and internationalisation of operational processes.

On 9th November, 70 students from the Belgian Thomas More University visited the Faculty of International Management and Business at Budapest Business School.

Budapest Business School organised a Welcome Day to all our newcomer international students on 24 September.

Almost 200 students from 35 countries attended the Orientation Lecture of Budapest Business School, which was organised on 1 September at the Reception Hall of our Markó street Campus.

Almost 20 students from five countries spent two weeks at the Summer School of Budapest Business School and they investigated a very exciting project.
During the Summer School participants had the opportunity to gain a uniquely global perspective by getting an insight into both the local and international businesses’ operations.
The main aim of the organisers was to show the hidden aspects of the economy of Central Europe, reveal the trends of international processes and highlight the growing importance of the IT world which plays a major role in commerce, finance and logistics nowadays.

The Hungarian Embassy in Bogota, Columbia organized a networking and academic event titled “Destino: Hungary” for Colombians who graduated from Hungarian universities where Dr. Gábor Réthi, our professor from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting was also present.

The Committee of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) approved the preliminary application of Budapest Business School (BBS) in February of this year. Therefore, our university can now begin the international accreditation process of one of the most recognised and prestigious global quality assurance organisations in the field of business education.

On 15 February, on the day of the Lantern Festival 🏮, OBIC in association with the Confucius Institute successfully organized its Chinese Party for BBS students to celebrate the Chinese New Year. 🧧

We proudly announce that BBS and the University of Stirling concluded a cooperation agreement. Within the framework of the agreement our MSc International Economy and Business students can earn the MSc International Business degree of our UK partner by spending one semester in Stirling, Scotland.
